Go with the little white lights, and red bows...on the tree.
If you have lil-chillens, maybe some popcorn and cranberries that they helped you string...
A nice big wreath for the front door, with little wrapped presents on it and a big red glossy bow...
Cedar boughs across your beautiful fireplace mantle...(oh like as if I am psychic and know you have one)...and then a manger with that...
Hmm.
I am not sure?
35 male...not exactly the INTERIOR DECORATOR TYPE....hope I helped.
at least a little bit though.

i live in the country. and i've decorated with everything u can think of, such as, magnolia leaves, (most blooms have fell), i'm in louisiana. pine tree cones and limbs. the pine will keep for a while before browning and smells great, use it as garland for banisters, mantels, shelves.etc. i wired two huge pine limbs together that were full of pine needles and placed two glazed bunches of grapes in the center and hung it on my door. poinsettias are beautiful and come in all colors. i particularly like the white. try a tier stand placing xmas arrangement in a pot on each tier or again use a small poinsettia, or come up with your own original ideas. u will be surprised. if u have some old decorations, ornaments, spray paint them and apply flowers, sequins. i had some pink ornaments that are now brown with white flowers. really cute. buy some small picture frames say 3x5 or so, place some black/white pictures or colored, hang them on your tree. i took some color pix & copied black/whie on typing paper. i could go on and on.......fun!

i own a home that is 140 years old, victorian, in the country. i use garland, burgandy poinsettas where most people use bows, and i have used mostly white lights, but this year will use amber. it gives off a warmer glow, looks like candle lights. i use the same color lights inside, as my christmas arrangement of 3 adirondack trees and an old fashioned st nick, looks like gandolf the wizard, is dressed with amber lights too, and sits in my bay windows, good luck

If you are speaking of outdoors decorating...use white lights, with garland and wreaths...for my tree..I use large pinecorns with hot glued plaid ribbions( tied into bows) and hand carved birds...I use either blue lights or gold lights...gumball shaped...
