Seems to be in a full fleged civil war now. But wait I need to be reminded at how much freedom we brought to Iraq and how brutal saddam was and not to forget all the good things we do there.
This just does not add up.

Iraq was not like it is now when Saddam was in power. Saddam was a threat to his own people, and those around him, period. World threat? Threat to America? Not by any thinking person's stretch of the imagination. We had to retaliate for 9/11 and a group of brilliant people decided Iraq was the path of least resistance after we topple their tyrant to install a democracy. Wishful thinking at its best, we are starting to see the worst. Things have degraded to their tribal levels split along religious sects. We invaded without understanding the culture and history of the region. Hatred and war are long time bed-partners in the middle-east. Just to keep the excitement growing we can now add extremely twisted, hate filled, religious fundamentalist zealots adding to the killing in the name of Allah. Baghdad is eerily starting to look like Saigon. We won't need a strategy to get out, we'll need emergency evacuation.

Obviously, no. I doubt we have ever "had control over events in Iraq."

However, have some faith. These factions have been battling each other for centuries - we have been in the area just a few years. Most of the killing now appears to be Iraqi against Iraqi.

Not a civil war yet - unfortunately, I believe it's simply because the different factions haven't organized enough yet - and, unlike the North and the South in America, with the exception of the Kurds, the different factions are not clearly defined by area - yet.

No doubt, the results of all of our military and humanitarian aid will ultimately be determined by the Iraqi people themselves.

I don't think we have control over Iraq anymore, we are loosing the control. We did bring freedom to Iraqi's but at the same time, there are some Iraqi's who just want us out. I still feel like we need to pull out of Iraq and worry about our stuff happening here. We have homeless people, and things going on, but no one seems to care about that, they would rather send soldiers over to Iraq, who risk their lives, and then we loose a lot of money, that can go to better our military, schools, get the homeless off the street, and help with everyday issues we face here. Instead of sending people over to Iraq, raise Minimun wage, military pay, help the homeless get a good job, so they can live a life they always wanted.

If we could get Syria and Iran out of there things would settle down, it's mostly foreigners whipping things up right now. But things were so bad under Saddam Hussein for the non-Sunnis they don't notice things are any worse, so they are getting revenge with help from feloow Shiites in Iran. Syria and Iran are worried they can't go on with their plans of regional or intercontinental control with the USA stationed in the country next door and have pulled out all barriers to driving us out short of declaring war on us directly. Something will give, but it doesn't look good.

There was a returned soldier on her who said they had been a refree for the two oposing religious groups.
There is on the yahoo.com news today about Shiite military men killed 25 sunni's in Iraq by douseing them in keroscene and burning them alive. As the Iraq soldiers stood by watching and didn't help. Then went on to kill 19 more sunni's. Attacking their mosques and burning them. It was in retailiation for the Sunni attack on them a few days ago where 215 were killed.
He said, I don't think as long as there is one member of that religion on either side left they will continue to fight.
So why is the USA soldiers over there? Do they believe they are bringing peace? Doesn't seem so.

We lost control a long time ago, (if we ever had it at all) but the republican control media refuse to report it.

The only ones who still believe we have control is Bush, Cheney, Rice and the half a dozen Conservatives/Repukes on this site.

Things have gotten worse in Iraw since we started to occupy them. In fact, before our invasion the al-Qaeda had little control in the conuntry. Now that we have done what we have done, al-Qaeda runs rampant in their country.
