Don't bother learning English. White people are scared of anything darker than them. Besides there are more stations in Spanish than English in both over the air television and radio. Just bring the Spanish with you.
If you are serious, the first thing you must prove is that you do not need the United States, that means that you must prove that you have the ability to speak English and prove that you have a thick wallet. In other words, you must prove that you will not become another Mexican on welfare. Second, get a student visa. It is expensive and you must have around 30 thousand dollars in the bank at all times. My suggestion is to do what every other Mexican does and run across the border. Take English classes at the local library, and then take the white peoples jobs. Of course, that is just a suggestion.

A decade ago to learn English, you had to attend costly English classes or purchase course material like tapes and books. Now you can learn English for free from the comfort of your home using the Internet. The BBC and the British Council offer a number of on line courses, which teach written and spoken English. You can also improve your English by watching television programs and reading English newspapers. For more information, visit http://tinyurl.com/qnzpt

When you study do you mean get into a college here? They will give you a placement test just like anyone else. Test is for math skills, reading and writing, and basic comprehension. If you score low in english, then you may have to take an extra english class than you normally would... maybe english as a 2nd language first before you get placed into college level english
hope this helps :}

Tis easier to understand it and write it than speak it for my lovely Mexican brothers......There usage of the mouth as a speaking tool is used quite differently than the White Europeans. Hispanic people tend to use more of the muscle the tongue when they speak and appear to people who do not speak their language "to be speaking very rapidly." Where as the White European USA born uses the whole mouth, tongue, teeth, throat, lips.....so therefore the Mexican needs to really exercise the mouth to use muscles which they lose less often.....MY SUGGESTION TO YOU, if you want to learn true English and have the means to do so Take an extended trip to ENGLAND to learn English. Their English is more pure..... what we speak in the USA is a derivative of the true English. Good luck to you......Some may say why am I an expert on this..... I am USA born European / Indian Ancestry no Hispanic heritage. I speak Perfect Spanish and English....But I speak Spanish with a Dominican / Colombian accent but learned the beautiful language of Spanish from a dear Mexican lady. My accent surprises people because it is so fluent.....Some words come out Chilanga but since I was born in Georgia....I call my accent "Georgielanga"......My Indian blood rhythm helped me master the Spanish language....There are many of European ancestry who speak Spanish but they speak with a "WHITE" accent.

Skip the states and go to Canada.
You will learn proper English and you will be accepted as a foreign student with respect.
You can acquire a student permission (VISA) through Citizenship and Immigration Canada.
Good luck
