More often then not, I see people pick answers to their questions that are so far off base that a blind man could see it. Then there are several actual answers, that people put thought into, and actually answered the question. But when they pick an answer they pick the one that makes no sense, and is only on there because they know it agrees with the opinion of the asker.

It's very amusing how SO many of the answers you've gotten reflect the "You're right! They're so closed-minded to the truth! No one should question 'god!'" Which highlights your point beautifully. It's exactly those people who answered that way that ask these questions and don't want any answer other than affirmation of theit beliefs.

It's usually pretty obvious who's genuinely asking a question, who's just preaching, and who's looking for a fight. But sometimes you get taken by surprise. It's very frustrating when you answer a question directed at people of your faith (Like 'why are there atheists on the R&S section?' or 'why does "x" religion believe that "x"?"), only to have the asker pick "Because those people are dumb" as an answer. Then you wondered why you bothered taking the time to answer. The asker obviously didn't want a real answer anyway.

Anyway, it can't be helped. *shrugs* There will always be idiots out there.

Some because they want validation of their own opinion. Other to try and get their point across. Others just to try and get a rise out of another group of people. I agree that the answers that do not conform to the asker's point of view are rarely picked - such is human nature. For example, being a Christian, if I asked a question regarding Christianity, I would probably not choose an answer that portrays atheism.

I'm all for good comedy at times. Sometimes someone's answer is off base but really witty and that's ok with me if that person gets picked. But I know what you mean. Sometimes people just pick dumb not even funny answers. I make a mental note of the person and try not to answer their questions again.

I'll read your answers more closely in the future but, if you are here for the whole getting best thing and not to help that one who is truly in need then perhaps another section would work better cuz lotsa folks here are all about tooting theoir own horns, either as a question or answer. Many athiestic question are just posed out of a rebellious spirit and unless you have a lot of patience and compassion for them then answering is just a waste of your time cuz they have a group and do just as you say they do.

My expensive acquaintances Lisa the Pooh and Bouncing again are the first names who spring to ideas.......they have both been with me for a lengthy time period. i'd also upload that hbd94 is a sparkling contact of mine....and from what I actually have seen so a techniques, she is a great answerer....i imagine she has responded all of my questions in view that we linked. I actually have fairly fairly some unswerving followers available, although.

If a wrong answer is clearly wrong and chosen as best, then the person is just not ready to part with a wrong notion or belief. Thought does not change readily, for if it did, the world would be a different place.

a lot of things plays into me picking a best answer. Sometimes it is not the best at all. Humor, point of view, encouragement, and many other reasons motive me to choose.

If the answer is well thought out, I could care less who gave it. personal feelings shouldn't enter into the reason a person selects an answer.

Because the people asking those types of questions don't want them answered; they're just looking to vent, or push an agenda.
