Take a hot bath and keep the hot coming.....Go to a great spa and get yourself a massage. Try to just take a break. It sounds like you you just worked harder than normal and have a few slight strains.
If you can't get a massage or go to a spa soak in the tub. And when you are making yourself a prune get out dry yourself off and very slowly do a few lower back stretches. Sit down with your legs together and slowly bend forward trying to touch your chin to your knees. Don't worry if you don't even come close all you want to do in stretch the lower back and hammies. after a couple of time doing this spread your legs and try to touch each knee and then the floor with your chin. And again, don't worry about actually doing this you are just trying to stretch the strain.
Good Luck.

IF you tell them you have had problems for 6-8 months they will be rude and want to know what you are doing in a ER. Secondly, you will be there forever because back pain is not a life threatening condition so you will have to wait until an ER physician has time to see you. Third, they will make you have a CT scan and MRI. Those tests take forever along with blood work to come back. Most peoples are normal. Lastly, they will probably think you are looking for pain drugs like morphine or something and roll their eyes at you because thats just what they do for back pain. However, if its unbearable then i say go ahead as you may have a serious problem. Also, go see a new dr if yours can't see you until April. Or make an appt with a specialist. Call around see if you can get in sooner. The er will tell you to follow up with a dr anyway.

Take an aspirin, then take a cold bath (supposedly better than a hot bath because it helps more in the long term). It will help numb the pain and ease the muscle soreness. Then if it still hurts put an ice pack on your lower back. Also if you have someone there to rub your back, that could help too.

well ask any good phstio and they will say a good hot soak in a bath tub. your body produces acids when you do excercises or phsical workouts all of a sudden, thats why your muscles are sore, next time take it easy, do warming up excersies

An anti-inflammatory drug, heat pads or a hot bath, and you ought to consider stretches and exercises every morning as a new routine to get into. Just one of those things we have to face as we get older.
