it means yan qiu in chinese.

A conversion to english might be useful to non chinese.
You will have to ask her.
It depends on the one of four tones used for each word, and the context in which the words are said. Try a google search, or wikipedia. Plenty names even have roots to former Dynasties.

Sorry, a correct interpretations is not possible as a pinyin spelling can represents many words which will vary the meaning like night and day. "Yan" can be 烟,燕,殷,顔,嚴,彦,嫣,炎,閻,艷,and "qiu" can be 球,秋,仇,邱,裘,丘,逑,酋. Although some are more popular than others. I assume "yan" is the surname?
Until you can get that onto this link, don't expect a correct answer.

First, you need tones to even have a clue of what you mean. Secondly, there are often over 30 different characters with a particular reading.

Most people are given names chosen almost randomly from the dictionary --- this is needed given the number of Chinese.

there are many characters with the reading yan ---
(first tone) 淹 (waterfall),烟(smoke/mist),焉(within),燕(sparrow)
(2nd) 言(words),岩(rock),盐(salt),炎(flames)
(3rd) 眼(eyeball),严(strict),
(4th) å®´(banquet) ..... etc

And many with qiu --- .
秋 (autumn),丘(hill),

Here's a list with all of them --- you're going to have to ask her. My name is 陆安---I have to tell people how to spell it 大陆的陆 (Lu from "dalu" - continent),平安的安 (an from "ping'an" - peace)。
