Well, what I do is I put the yams in a casserole dish and spread them out evenly. After that I put on brown sugar, and then some cinnamon. I didn't measure, but make sure that each yam has a little of everything basically. Maybe two pinches of cinnamon will do. Also, drizzle about two to three table spoons of butter on it. After that, put the yams in the oven at 375 degrees for about 15 minutes. Check to see if the brown sugar has started to brown a little more than it already is. Afterwards, take it out, and then top it off with marshmallows and put it back in the oven for maybe 15 minutes again until the marshmallows start to brown. The crispiness adds some nice texture to it. And that's about it! And... I thought about it, and maybe putting some crunchy cereal before the marshmallows, like Honey Bunches of Oats would add a nice crunch to the mushy yams. =)

Sweet Potato Casserole
2 1/2 pounds sweet potatoes (about 3 large), scrubbed
2 large eggs, lightly beaten with a fork
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted plus more for the preparing the pan
2 tablespoons packed dark brown sugar
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg
Freshly ground black pepper
1/4 cup coarsely chopped pecans
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Put the sweet potatoes on a baking sheet and pierce each one 2 or 3 times with a fork. Bake for 45 to 60 minutes or until tender. Set aside to cool.
Turn the oven down to 350 degrees F. Scoop the sweet potato out of their skins and into a medium bowl. Discard the skins. Mash the potatoes until smooth. Add the eggs, butter, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and pepper to taste. Whisk the mixture until smooth.
Butter an 8 by 8-inch casserole. Pour the sweet potato mixture into the pan and sprinkle the top with the pecans. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes until a bit puffy. Serve immediately.

there is now sweet potatoe casserole in a can just open the cans and boxes pour in the pan and heat. or if you prefer the other way, put yams in the pan add brown sugar and cinnamon candies add marshmallows to the top and heat till warmed thru

1/3 cup milk
1 cup white sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/3 cup butter
1 cup chopped pecans
DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
In a large bowl, mix together mashed sweet potatoes, 1/2 cup butter, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, and eggs. Spread sweet potato mixture into the prepared baking dish. In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and flour. Cut in 1/3 cup butter until mixture is crumbly, then stir in pecans. Sprinkle pecan mixture over the sweet potatoes.
Bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown

i open a couple of cans of yams in heavy syrup, mash them, then beat them with a handmixer, add cinnamon, nutmeg and brown sugar to taste, and put it in a pan and top with pecans and marshmallows and cook til hot
