It could have been in Illinois or Michigan but I don't know. The child support office called me 3 days ago to let me know my daughter's father died in Sept. 21, 2005 I have no clue as to how and where he died. Please help. I don't think he had any other children. We have filed for S.S. survivor benefits.

I would try the Social Security Death index. It will give you name date of birth, date of death, place of last benefit as well as the state the social security number was issued. Here is the website. It is a free search...If you send me his name, I will see if I can locate an obituary:

Blessings and I hope you find what you are looking for.

The social security death index will tell you where he died. You can find it online - some sites charge, but there are some that don't, so keep looking.

As to how, you might have to do some additional detective work. Sometimes newspapers have that info. The death certificate would - I don't know what it takes to get that other than knowing where the person died.

Try the state attorney generals office to see if a death certifacate was filed in a certain state, all that info will be on that you will have to order a copy of that from the county it was issued, most likely for fee. But good luck

Call them back - if they knew to contact you than they also have specifics of his death.
