Guys..DO you really care if the seat is up or down?

Women...are you that naggy about the whole thing?

If I were a Woman, I think I would rather find it up, so I know some guy didn't most likely just get through pi**ing all over it!

So..do you care if it's up or down...and why?

Ever try staggering to the bathroom at 3 a.m., half asleep, can't see, can barely walk, you finally make it to sit down and bam!! Your butt hits the cold toilet water, this is good. The guy should lift the seat to pee so there should not be pee where I'm gonna sit. Then there's a thing of sanitation, it's an open drain for waste..it should remained closed. No offense but you guys are slobs in the latrine! Ya pee all around the porcelain god..and sometimes in it!

bingo! The issue of the seat up or down has as much politics as the presidential vote. I would think a woman would rather find the seat up just for the reasons you gave but this has been an issue for so long that I think it's just one more issue for women to bit*h about. And all this talk about women wanting equal opportunity stuff...I think it's time that women take a turn for the next160 years and lift the seat up when their done. mainly because I do believe in equal treatment and gentleman manors don't fall into this category because it's expected. Lets make the change!! LOL:)

Im female, I dont care unless the other side is dirty. Personally I think women pee on the seat WAY more then men. I've worked at Sheetz and thats all I ever did was wipe pee off the seats. I close the lidso I have no problem with it.

You women say men are too lazy to take two seconds and put it down, well you can hold it in two more seconds to put it up. Talk about a double standard.

At home, I don't really care if my bf leaves it up. It isn't that big a deal for me to put it down. But at work? I work in a small doctors office and there is only one bathroom, I think it's rude for the male patients to leave the seat up. I don't want to come in after one of them and have to put the seat down. The four of us employees, are all women.

I got a giggle, reading your question. And then howled when I saw how many people responded! I was going to say that it was a trivial matter, and more of a late night talk show host fodder for jokes than something that really happens between the sexes. But I guess I'm wrong. Clearly - based on your number of replies, people do care. Sad, really. Doncha think? But then...wait...this would be the same race of people that spend their time and money focussed on trivial things. They hang on everyword spewed by television and other media. So why wouldn't they have a vested interest in the toilet seat positioning?

Wait until the first time you go to sit down on the toilet some night at 1:00am and the seat was left up. It's not a matter of inconvenience, it's a matter of FALLING INTO THE TOILET. We get a wet butt and a huge gross out factor. So yeah, I AM that naggy. Why do you think we want it down?

It's no fun to sit down and fall into the toilet. I don't need to take a swim! Plus, I don't want to have to put by hand on a nasty toilet seat to put it down, especially in a public restroom.

In my home both the seat and the lid are down. It is like that because firstly, it is healthier for them both to be down, secondly, because if I am the one who does the cleaning then I get to choose...and thirdly and most importantly...if it is left up then my cat Suki gets in the loo and drinks the water!

Your question is not one of etiquette. It is one of sanitation. When you flush a toilet with the seat (and cover) up, germs are spread throughout your bathroom. If your toothbrush is on the vanity counter or hanging on the wall, you are exposing it to bacterial and fecal germs which you then put into your mouth when you brush. Lowering the seat (and cover) prevents these germs from being distributed when flushing. On the etiquette side, it is simple common courtesy and makes the bathroom looks cleaner.
