My Son is In High School Now and It has Always been a Struggle for him to get Good Grades. Not Because He isnt Bright or Capable but because He just Isnt Motivated to Try Harder. We'll Talk and he'll do better. I Do believe that Some teachers Do Make the Difference. As I Know that was The case for me. But Whats the Best Way to get him to Want To Learn. So that he Will Try and Not Just Mope around when he Should be Getting His Work Done?
His Teachers have said that it isnt because he is goofing off with others but Mostly Just from Not turning his work in.
I Know its a Motivation problem Just Dont Know the best way to Turn it around :-s
Thank you

Bribery might help, give him something to look forward to at the end of each nine weeks and if he does well you could take him on a mini trip or buy him a game he wants. Some kids are motivated in diff ways so don't worry it might be something personal in his life like friends or girls, hope all goes well!

My daughters teachers sets a variety of different topics for the classbecause they know the boys are not motivated to work on projects. He hould be choosing classes that interest him.Talk to his teachers. Some students are studyers some are better making things and some are good at sport. I am glad I have girl.

When I was in high school, having a scheduled time each night when I did homework worked very well - it was about an hour and a half long, and during that time I sat in the open, so that I had to do my work. When I was done with my homework, each thing that I did would be looked over and "praised". This brought my grades up significantly.

To my mind, you should give him to read about some people biography, who have achieved a lot in life. All they mention, that withuot learning as it is in whole role, you can't think like a grown person. It is your state of mind and the way you think is differt with those who study. If he will study not for the marks, but for himself to respect himself, than he'll get a respect from other formededucated persons. And nowadays studing is cool ) Let him know that.

Could be he's intelligent and bored with school. It seems he improves when you talk with him, so keep on doing it. Set aside time every evening and keep him company while he's doing his homework. If the subject is something you don't understand, have him explain it to you. He will learn by teaching you and get his work done. You will both benefit!

You should give him a reward for good grades and completing assignments. The reward should be something you know he really wants so he will be motivated to work hard and get the reward.
