I like to celebrate the turning over of the calendar, the end of a year, start of another.

I also like getting together with family, and decorating ina wintery theme.

Some people say that I'm a sinning sack of sh*t for not knowing that this is some guy called Jesus's Birthday, though he died over 2000 years ago.

I tell them that the supposed holiday was crated by the christians to replace the pagan celebrations, and that no one knows for sure when Jesus the man was born.

I then wish them a happy holiday and watch them foam at the mouth.

The holiday season was set aside for families to get together this time of year. The term Christmas was originally derived from the Catholics, Christ and mass which was shortened to Christmas. There is no evidence that Christ was born on December 25. We do not know the date he was born. Some people believe that the first Christmas was celebrated when the wise mwn brought gifts to Jesus, but there is no mention of Christmas in the Bible.

Troll worship is fun. Making fun of the hadicapped is pretty high on the list. And, Oh, of coarse reporting Christian posts is among the higher objectives.

I just hate everything to do with the winter anyway. Its cold, and dark most of the time. I"ll just be glad when the solstice has passed and we start heading towards spring.

Egad, "true meaning"?

I shudder whenever I read that in a question.

It's whatever meaning it has to you, bro, so don't sweat it.

EDIT for addition:

The "reason for the season" is the Earth's axial tilt.
