Is it OK to paint the hinges on a door when painting inside a room?

No! This is the same as painting over a switchplate cover and light fixtures. A professional paint job demands that you take the time to tape off things that are not supposed to be painted. When I just painted my doors, I taped off the hardware and it looks quite professional. And I removed the door jamb hardware, painted, then put it back on. It looks great. If you think about it, you're probably going to be looking at this paint job for years; take a few minutes to do it right, and you won't have regrets.

Yes, it is ok. I prefer not to paint them because the metal looks better than the splotchy paint job most people do. It wont affect the workings of the hinge, though.

I don't see a problem with it. All of the hinges on my doors are painted. The only part not painted is the knob.

Although the paint police won't arrest you, you will be surprised to see how attractive hinges look when the metal is clean and shiny.

It takes very little effort to remove the hinges and cleaned them and the rewards are compliments from your friends, family and even strangers.

You can but it won't look very good. If you really want you hinges to be a different color then I would suggest going to the hardware store and buying them. They will look so much better than painting them.

You decide whether you want paint on your hinges. I wouldn't. The hinge will still work.

You could...but it doesn't look professionally done. Also the hinges will not permanently accept the paint and it will begin to flake off eventually. My advice..take the time to take them off.
