No! That's so boring! Paint the door a complimentary color, one you plan to use in the whole room, then also paint the frame around the window the same color, the floortrim and any trim around the cieling. Gives the room more detail and makes it look like you really took your time and did a great job on the room. Of course, don't pick a color combo like Mint green and burgundy. ... do more like mint and sage or something similar . Go for a similar color, just different tonal differences. Stick in similar color families. I love painting rooms!!

Depends on the door. Has it already been painted? How big is the room? What is the focal point? Etc. Etc. You have to ask yourself if painting a different color will be too cluttered looking in the room? Normally I would; however, one house I had white walls with leafy green trim and also did the doors (2). The room was oversize, the doors were opposite and the contrast helped create two smaller rooms instead of one garage size room.

Generally you'd paint the door with the same paint as the trim.

nope. I typically paint the door the same color as the surrounding trim. Unless you are trying for some dramatic effect (home theatre, media room), I'd paint the door the trim color. If you do decide to paint the color of the surronding walls, make sure you still use a semi-gloss for just the door. Otherwise it will get filthy pretty quickly (if you use a wall finish paint like a flat or satin on it)

I painted the inside of my house this summer.
I painted the doors the same as the walls.
Think about it. Your're painting all the trim
a different color usually, right. The doors have
trim around them. I painted my rooms Vanilla Waters
(a little darker than antique white. Then all the trim
in white. It looks alot better than when I had the trim
and door painted white. But, everyone has their own
taste.

It is always a matter of taste. Everyone's taste is different. You can do that, if you like it.

Or, you can do that, but paint the door frame in a different color trim.

I prefere a natural wood grained stain on a door. I have a friend that likes panels on an interior door. I know another that paints virtually EVERYTHING,

Do what you like.

I did, I painted my room half and half, top lilac and bottom dark purple. But made a wavey line instead of straight and just painted it all the way around. Well I thought it looked good! Ha ha

A contrasting color like biege, cream or white doors with the same color base board gives a nicer cleaner look.

I would keep the door the same color as the baseboards, and window trim.

Depends what colour you are going to pain the walls. I would better do other colours than the same one.. It will look boring.. I agree with answerer number two.
