I wish you could describe this pain in more detail. The only suggestion I have until you see a dentist is take ibuprofen.
Ibuprofen is an anti-inflammatory and will reduce any inflammation that is causing you pain and discomfort.
The recommended dose on the bottle may not be enough. It is OK to take 3 or 4 tablets. This is a prescription strength and should do the trick. You may be skeptical about taking more than suggested but, if you ask a doctor they will either prescribe you stronger ibuprofen or tell you to take 3 or 4 tablets (which equals the prescription dose.)
Even though your pain may subside, it is important to make an appointment w/ a dentist to have your tooth evaluated. Please don't wait too long! I've seen this all too many times....people make appointments and don't show up b/c their pain has vanished. Then a week later they are in pain and have an inflamed face.
I hope you feel better soon!

I am in pain too due to toothache! Actually I thought you had an answer to the problem. But surely taking Paracetamol and Ibuprofen at the same time is not the solution. Actually any drug has some degree of unwanted effects immediately, sooner or later. Paracetamol could have effects on ones liver in the long run, ibuprufen, like aspirin could have some long term effects on your blood-clotting mechanism. I suggest 200-400mg of Brufen could relieve some of that aching, or 500-1000 mg of Paracetamol, depending on your body build. Taking both concomitantly does not make the situation any better. Simply try this: see a dentist, you may be thinking it is toothache when in fact it could be some inflamation of the gums. Find the cause of the ache and a solution will be within reach. "Get well soon "to your hubby, if he finds a cure let me know too, I could benefit.

See DENTIST ASAP!
Toothaches are a sign that there may be more to worry about then just a little pain. The causes of toothache are several but the major causes are, dental cavity, a cracked tooth, exposed tooth root, gum disease, disease of the jaw joint or spasms of the muscles used for chewing. It is possible for the cause of a toothache to originate from an entirely different problem such as heart attack or angina but this is quite rare. It can be noted however that some patients suffering angina will show toothache or jaw pain as the only symptoms so it is always best to let your dentist or doctor evaluate you.

RUBY,
THERE ARE SEVERAL REASONS FOR DENTAL PAIN.
IN THE SHORT TERM TAKE SOME IBUPROFEN TO EASE THE PAIN. HOWEVER, VISIT A DENTIST A.S.A.P. TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. BEST OF LUCK!
