hey,
I know how you feel. i was also like that.
do you have a very close friend that knows about your self-harming? my close friend told someone about me and now I'm getting help (also thanks to the people on yahoo advising me to go to a counsellor).
i know you can do it. try to find some self-determination and self-esteem...it's inside you somewhere. try and ask a friend to come with go and tell someone. having someone you know with you is very comforting.
good luck and i know you can do it.

Go to ur doctor, look on the net there are loads of self help websites that has lists of distractions and things, stay strong, keep busy and don't punish urself if u can't stop straight away. I have self harmed for four years and I think I left it too long to get help so get it as soon as you can because it might become more addictive and harder to stop. Good Luck and Take Care

You have hit the nail right on the head by making this connection. The following link might help mind.org.uk/Information/.../Understanding/Understanding+self-harm.htm
One tip is to get some ice and hold that in your hand instead of cutting. It hurts without damaging you.
Go see your doctor for help and contact Mind on the phone. Or Young Minds or Connexxions for more informed help.
It is hard to be open and communicative when you fear hurt, so good luck with that one.

Perhaps you should give yourself a bit of praise for raising the question here, admitting it and think about why here - maybe its because of the anonymity and if so consider taking a step towards a professional helpline?
You obviously realize its not a great thing to be doing so in the meantime try something i heard on a program about social workers and hold pieces of ice - hurts but doesn't harm.

You have already made the first move. You need advice from your doctor who can put you in contact with a phsycologist who can give you other ways of dealing with your problems. Try to remember that cutting is not the answer as it will leave you with unsightly scares. Try asking a family member you trust to go to the doctors with you. Good luck i hope you can sort this out

You dont have to hurt yourself, if you dont feel good talking about your problems with someone you know, such as family or friends, you should see a psychologist. Dont get me wrong, I'm not telling you that you are insane, or something, people have just that stupid belief that psychologists are the ones who treat mad people, and is not like that, they are just physicians of the mind, they help you to feel better with yourself, and you can talk to them and explain them anything you feel, they will listen to you and advice you.
But please, stop harming yourself, everything in life has a solution, you cant give up.
Good luck!!!!!

You need to talk to someone who is nonjudgmental and feels with you what it is that is hurting. It is not easy to talk to someone if maybe you are not sure how the others will react . you need to stop self harming try Personal therapy from a person centred therapist . Good luck

talk to a cousiler/therapist (both probably spelt wrong), just tell them you need to get some weight of your chest, and justs tell me everything pour everything out, get rid of it all. you'll feel a little lighter and have more space in your head to think possitive instead of all the negativity....ya know? a dunno if this makes sense but, i think that could be the start of you path to being confident/open ect..? then the therapist themselves may help you with stooping cutting youself. but i guess it would depend on the therapist, because personally i know a perosn who goes to one, and it seems to make them worse? but thats not for me to say for your situation.
so...i'd usually say get something new, new hairstyle woteva, but i would wanna draw too much attention to myself at one time especially wen there was so much going on inside my hed.
hmm...tough one...surprise everyone one night, IM your mates and tell em your arranging a night out, maybe just the cinema or woteva? that way u could spend a bit time with them and cheer youself up?
and....cutting yourself, find an alternative to let out your probablems, someone told me if you bit down on a pencil or something wen u want to do it? or if u have a punch bag, u could let off some steem that way? focus ure mind on somefin, like painting or listen to music closer than u did before. for example a band u like, listen to the bass line, then the guitars seperatly, then the drum focus on wot they are playing. focus closly at the intruments,or maybe the voice, buit i find that gets me thinking to deeply about the lines, think about it more technically...
hope my rambling hasn't bored u too much, and that it has helped jst a bit
good luck with everything u doo
xx
