5'5 is average for a woman, short for a man

Average height for men is about 5'8" to 5'10"
So, you are a little on the short side on the average - but then again, there are many women shorter than you so they won't care :)

Because I am 5'10" I would consider you to be short. Not necessarily a bad thing. That thought would not likely enter my mind unless you had a "Short" posture - the way you carry yourself.
