I get a perfect reception for every channel except BBC4 through a digital freeview box - which annoyingly is the one i want to watch most. Any ideas how i can resolve this problem.

If you get Cbeebies during the day, as you state you get every other channel, then go to BBC4 at 7pm when it starts, and you will receive it.
It is actually transmitted on the same band as Cbeebies, so can't be on the same time.
The same is true with Cbbc and BBC3.
On another tv service, if you leave BBC4 on over night, the same channel shows Cbeebies in the morning.
As you asked the question after 7pm, I would suggest you try re-tuning the digibox. If it has accidentally been deleted from the box, this will bring it back.

Freeview channels are transmitted in groups, called multiplexes. BBC 4 is transmitted on Multiplex B, with Cbeebies, BBC Radio 1 Xtra, 5 Live and BBC 7. If you can't receive any of these channels, it could be that your aerial isn't suitable to get this group of channels. There are some steps to work through on this subject at http://www.radioandtelly.co.uk/reception.html#missing

If your T.V aerial and cable to the T.V. are relatively new (you don't say) then it may be that you aerial is not pointing in quite the right direction. Mr T.V. man (yellow pages) can put a meter on your aerial wire and test signal strength. If cable and aerial are old, you need to replace to expect optimum reception. Mr T.V. man can also advise as to whether you should get a better reception from a different transmitter from another direction than the one your aerial is currently pointing.
