You know, like swans made out of carrots and apples with their peels cut to look like rabbits. I'm going to a party today and if you have suggestions for SIMPLE stuff like that, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

Those are garnishes and they aren't that simple to make. They do sell garnishing kits in specialty kitchen stores that have spiral slicers , specialty knives and press cutters. If you are making radish roses, they can be made with a paring knife, cutting petals from the top down and submerging in ice water for a couple hours. It may be a bit late to try for today as it requires some time.

Try Cooks.com, allrecipes.com and recipezaar.com for a wide variety of carrot curls, tomato roses, radish lillies, etc.
They take a little practice and a sharp knife and a few other inexpensive tools but can add real character to your dinners.

"Kae- Sa- Luk" is the Thai word for art carvings. See the link for history, tips and tricks, and great ideas for swan apples, etc.
