Consumer reports has the most comprehensive buying guide on line and it's free. Read the guide then follow the tips for buying your pans and knives. Purchasing kitchen supplies is more than a brand thing it is about cooking style and usage. Personally I like stainless steel and Cast iron but I have friends who will only use copper and those who swear by enamel. It is far better to understand how to measure the quality of your preference and purchase the best you can afford. When I was starting out I actually hit thrift stores for higher quality pots and pans since stainless steel can be pricey - but it was best for me. I hate Teflon because it is so easily damaged and can't take high heats without jading the flavor of the food-but that is me. Look at the guides and buy the best options for your kitchen needs. Good Luck!

i cant say any names here but i work in a kitchen so sortov equals it out abit, do not use the internet, go into somewhere wich sales kitchen stuff with a wide variety, your lookin for stainless steel knifes which are fairly thick and not to light, best with a metal handle. You will also need to buy some steel if you want to keep your knifes sharp. The reason i cant say any names is because different knifes work for different people so look for what suits you best. With pans You want something not to thick but not to thin either, look for ones with a black surface as this will conduct more heate than plain stainless steel, good luck shopping.
