I think you mean Alzheimers - 1st signs are memory loss relating to recent things - names etc. Often the person has vivid memory of things that happened years ago but in advanced stages cant even recognize those close to them . Its a very sad disease for all concerned xxx
Jamjan - isnt the shakes associated with Parkinsons disease rather than Alzheimers ???

Alzheimer’s disease is a progressive brain disorder that gradually destroys a person’s memory and ability to learn, reason, make judgments, communicate and carry out daily activities. As Alzheimer’s progresses, individuals may also experience changes in personality and behavior, such as anxiety, suspiciousness or agitation, as well as delusions or hallucinations.

Hi!

It's funny you should ask this tonight.

I was only talking to my kids today about my own Gran, who had altzheimers before she died seven years ago.

With my Gran it was her memory. My kids used to get really upset because they would walk into the room and my Gran would turn to me and ask who were these children who were visiting! The poor mites didn't understand.

The interesting thing was, that although she would forget lots of other things and people, she used to always remember and recognise me and anything I told her.

God bless her!!!

I wish you the very best of luck if you are going through this type of experience with a loved one.

Do you mean "Alzheimer’s disease"?
Loss of short-term memory is often the first sign. The disease progresses gradually but may plateau for periods of time. Behavior disorders (eg, wandering, agitation, yelling) are common.
Please see the web pages for more details on Alzheimer's disease.

forgetting things, misplacing things, forgetting peoples names , not remebering where you are or where you live, generally every day things.sometimes people forget a generation and think they still have their mum and dad but forget they've been married and had children
it can be very gradual but distressing for the person suffering and the family
