The American Civil War was worth fighting from all focal points. If it was not fought, African-Americans would still be under the evil of slavery. We also would not be the country that we are today; we would be split in two. North vs. South. Brother vs. Brother. Family vs. Family.
It has often been said that the Civil War was a turning point in America. In this great war, we Americans actually became Americans. We were not Northerners. We were not Southerners. We were Americans, and we still are today. And in the Civil War, people fought for what they believed, not because they were forced to, not for any reward, not for any kind of land, or money, or gain. They just fought for what they believed.
P.S. Yoube72: LOL very funny! I'm a SW fan too.

I am not sure how far back you want to go but WWII was certainly worth the fight and sacrifices, as well as the Korean conflict (technically no a war). The Vietnam war was not worth the fight and sacrifices as it did not end as planned by the governments. This Iraq war will also be one war not worth the fighting and the sacrifices. Mark the time, at the end of this war in Iraq, nothing would have change as far as the country of Iraq including its government, except it will be another Saddam Hussein as its leader.

All wars are for economic reasons and all wars are made up probably for population control, However, the war in Iraq , to me, is like nothing i've ever seen or heard of before.

After 9/11 the conflict in Afghanistan became inevitable. the super issue became that united statesa. lost pastime in the frenzy to invade Iraq. If the worldwide had stayed centred on ending the activity in Afghanistan then we probably would not be dropping infantrymen on the instant. There ought to have been a marshall plan for Afghanistan. The muslim worldwide could have considered brutal warlords replaced with a benign democratic government. the ladies of the muslim worldwide could have considered the little women of Afghanistan going to college. Muslims could desire to work out that the advantages for cooperating with the west became peace. regrettably "W" went and threw it away. All we are in a position to do now's cope with the placement we've till Iraq is over and then we are in a position to flow back and do the activity correct.

World war two perhaps, but world war one was utterly pointless - it was just a scrap between empires who wanted to see who could be top dog, at the sake of millions of lives pointlessly lost. The war could have been ended in 1916 when it became obvious that neither side was going to win unless they sent another couple of million soldiers to their deaths, and until one country was utterly, utterly destroyed. World war one was possibly one of the stupidest and most pointless wars in history.
