Oh my fine fellow, these dark ages are nearly past us. This is 1812! The age of enlightenment. Soon the tales of superstition, devils and angels will be swept into the rubbish bin along with the other fishwife tales.

Besides, I've got this charming design for the University of Virginia which is going to be pretty much useless without "education."

Ummmmm.... I vote no on that one thank you!

Personally I think science and technology are some of the most amazing things in the world, and our ability to understand, manipulate and harness this information through science is what makes us human.

If God solves everything, how do you explain about 70% of what happens every day?

I disagree.

Science is man's way of understanding and adapting to the universe that God has made for us. He has given us the capacity to do great things. Even greater when we are working together. Science is the ultimate human collaborational project and should be done.

Jesus himself said that we would accomplished thing greater that him. And this was when he would healing the sick, raising the dead, and curing blindness. I believe that Jesus knew the great potential of human sciences, and encouraged it. Just so long as we behave ourselves and don't use it to kill each other.

I say lets do it,then we can explain to mothers the world over that their children had to die of polio because it was Gods will, after all to use the evil scientific advance of inoculation would cheapen us and make us less worthy in the eyes of the Lord. How can we expect God to find us worthy if we choose to avoid the trials and tribulations he has set before us by creating the myriad of medical advances that have doubled the life expectancy in the world over the last century, and saved so many millions of children from the ravages of Gods diseases which were meant to test our children by killing them, blinding them, crippling them, etc. God is not amused!

Well, as I sit typing on my useless computer, which has expediated worldwide communication and interconnectedness, I have to say I agree with you. I too long for the days where we still could get typhoid and cholera, which we couldn't cure, from our drinking water, which we couldn't purify, as we drank from lead cups we didn't know hurt us. Oh, and I absolutely hate how science destroyed our ability to enjoy darkness by allowing the invention of artificial light, and then how science so horribly allows us to drill for the oil which heats our housing. Rock on, dude, I must agree with you.

For most of man's history you could not separate science from religion, so, like it or not, most of science owes its very foundations to religion.

For example, Newton (by most accounts the most important scientist in our history) wrote more on religion then he did science.

See, this is what happens when you take ANYthing to the extreme.
All religion and no science - no discovery.
All science and no religion - no hope.
Good mix of the two - happiness in life. Amen.
