I've been reading quite a few of the posts on here and to be honest some of the responses from Christians are quite scary. Surely when Jesus lived, he lived a life which totally attracted people to him, both through his words and actions? I bet he was a really fun guy to be around but how do you guys talk about him without using words like sanctified, redeemed, washed in the blood...?

because in church and bible study classes these words become second nature to us. we read the bible and depending on the translation we use, the words in the bible become our words. plus a lot of Christinas keep themselves sequestered in little Chrisitan circles and don't really keep up with normal people. not that christians aren't normal, but you know what I mean.

Jesus was probabyy a totally fun guy who spoke the truth in a way that touched people's hearts.

chrisitans aren't that scary, well some are. but I guess we will find out the truth in the end, huh?

Joyce Meyer observed that very difficulty the day gone by. She calls those style of Christians Sister large Christian who've a non secular answer and catch word for each thing. they have become so spiritually minded they are no earthly solid. i'm a Christian and that i stumble on them stressful. i exchange into in the medical field for some an prolonged time. (no longer asserting how many) I used to get aggravated at nurses and others who used those long drawn out medical words to describe each and every thing. I knew the words too, yet used easier words. rather of hemorrhage i'd say bleeding excessively or rather of diarrhea i'd say loose stools. There are extra complicated ones, yet you get the assumption. some human beings merely choose to coach off.

There is a place in the Gospels, where it says "Jesus rejoiced" but the actual Greek word meant that he leapt for joy! That is a side of Jesus that many miss. While the things you hear Christians say is true, it is not the WHOLE truth. They tend to repeat the same quotes over and over, and it even gets on my nerves and I'm a believer! LOL But they mean well and care about people, so don't be too hard on them.

What is important is that Jesus desires a relationship with you and died so it could happen in spite of the wrongs you have done. Will you accept his offer of friendship?

The rest doesn't matter until someone knows Jesus personally. That's when you begin to learn more.

God Bless,

Sue

Sanctified is a word that goes together with most religions and redeemed is synonymous with Christ,as for blood it is associated with violence; a thing that a lot of people would much rather not talk about.Avoiding it will not make it go away.If you are a sincere person it is worth answering your question otherwise I have wasted my time.

Yes, words like that can throw a person for a loop. Just because they are odd words don't let that stop you from ever getting close to Jesus. You are right He would be a great guy to hang out with. He respected woman, something they did not get much of in those days. He befriended several woman during His lifetime. So, yeh, He would like you too. Jesus always spoke to people in a way that was easy for them to understand. He was a humble man who rubbed shoulders with everyone.

I think all people (just like everything else) are in some form of 'development'.

I hate to use the term immature, but I think it fits here; an immature mind basically just parrots back what it has been told. This is ok to some extant as long as it helps them act in a way they otherwise would not act in because (i think) it is *more* dangerous for a mind to have no direction. Sometimes it can take years (maybe never) for someone to truly understand what they say.

Your right, Jesus did not scare anyone. When Christians use these words they need to be using them amongst themselves, they are the ones who can digest them. To someone who is say a milk christian, ordinary words are all that are needed. Jesus used stories and parables to help explain what people found hard to understand and see.

OK, here we go. "Jargon Free Gospel."

Every one of us has something inside. Call it our dark bits. It's like, you know those times when you do something wrong? You know its wrong, and you don't really want to do it, but you do it anyway, and feel guilty afterwards. You had that? That's what these dark bits do. And they stop you doing those things you know you should do. Because of these dark bits, we become selfish, proud, greedy, bigoted and all other kinds of nasty stuff. And, after a while, we don't feel too bad about doing these. We tell ourselves it's OK, it's just us being us. When that happens, we get a bit darker ourselves. Bad things become easier.

Now, what God wanted was people that loved each, where the weakest and most vulnerable were cared for, where eveyone is treated fairly, and there are no outcasts. That is what God really wants. So, we are told to love everyone, even those people that hate us. We are told to treat other people as we want to be treated. We are told not to insist on our own way, but to serve each other. We are told to forgive every wrong that has ever been done to us. We are told to be kind and merciful to the homeless, the hungry, the sick, the elderly, the prisoner and the outcast. We are told not to judge those that believe differently to us (that's God's job).

The thing is, because of those dark bits, none of us can live up to that kind of standard. In fact, the best of us in this world is not much better than the worst of us.

Now, this is a problem. God has had this plan for Mankind from the start. A beautiful world, where everyone gets along. But we messed it up. So, He will have to scrap everything and start again. But that means He would have to destroy all of mankind, because, unless something changes, we would just mess things up again, and God will not allow that to happen.

So God came up with a plan. There is a rule which says that, for every wrong, there must be a punishment. Forgiveness has a cost. God became Jesus Christ, the only person ever born without these dark bits. He showed people that it was possible to live the life God wanted, with the help of another facet of God called The Holy Spirit. Jesus allowed Himself to be wrongly judged, to be tortured and crucified. He allowed Himself to be punished for everything everyone did wrong, from the beginning to the end of time. Don't ask me exactly what this meant, but that's a lot of pain and suffering. Anyway, because only those that had done wrong could die, and because Jesus was as much God as He was man, God brought Himn back from the dead and he spent about 40 days with His people before leaving Earth completely (well, I say that. People still see Him. Especially in The Middle east).

So, it's like, the sentence has been passed on us but it's Jesus that took the rap. That means we can say "Guilty, but sentence served." If we want to. God does not force us to do anything. If we decide we want to accept what Jesus has done for us, we mark that by being baptised. We can the have The Holy Spirit, just as Jesus did (and we can do a number of things Jesus did after that). The Holy Spirit fixes all the broken bits in us, cleans up our minds and lives, and helps and guides us into living right). As long as we keep doing things God's way, we will be OK. But, some people go back to how they were, or do not truly want to live a changed life. They will not make the grade.

So, what about those that do not accept what Jesus has done for them? It's like, two kids coming home from school, playing around in the muck and the dirt. Mum says "You are not eating until you clean yourselves up." Well, one kid goes upstairs and showers and scrubs and washes, while the other just goes into his room, changes and reads his comics. They both come down to Mum, who checks them over. The kid that washed and showered gets to eat. The other one says "I didn't wash because I'm not dirty." This, despite a huge mud stain on the back of his leg. So, the second kid either has to wash, or not eat his food.

Now it's your turn. Are you going to go through life thinking "I'm good enough." Or do you have the guts to see the truth about yourself, see all the times you hurt people or acted selfishly? All the times you didn't do those things you should have done? All those bad thoughts you have had about people? What are you going to do about it?

You have a choice. Now is as good a time as any to make it.

i try to give my answers in good english, but my grammar makes it really bad.
some people want jargon to PRove their arguments and debate to the end every detail. while others like yourself just want plain speach. but if i bring up an issue of being a witness of jesus christ and his glory and tell people I have SEEN Jesus in a vision. I need to use the language that best describes the situation! if that is still Jargon, then how I can relate to you my own personal experience to prove there is a God?

I am a Christian, but I don't walk around saying those things..sometimes I do preach a bit, especially when people want to deny God, because in my opinion, seeing isn't always believing, I try not to be offensive towards others who are athiest, but just like athiest's don't understand Christianity, I don't understand athiesim.

Yes, I am a Christian, but I have thee worst potty mouth, I swear worse than a trucker, I have kids but we aren't married yet, I smoke and drink occassionally...but I am forgiven for all of that because Jesus dies for me.

We aren't all bible thumpers, holy rollers, and what ever else term people use on us believers...I am just like any other person, but I will argue my belief if needed
