every time i put on my socks and shoes, i have to turn my socks inside out or else it bugs me like crazy.

Sounds like you have cheap socks with a big unfinished seam.

No, it actually makes sense - to turn the smooth part in towards the skin. I've often thought the same about panties - why should the seam be towards our skin to bother it? Think I'm gonna change things....
