One theory suggests that we're all genetically programmed to like sweet things. If something has a pleasing taste, it's probably safe to eat. Something that's bitter or bad-tasting is more likely to be poisonous. (Of course, there are exceptions.) So, at one time, it may have been a matter of survival. Over time, however, it has simply become ingrained in our culture, often to the point of being unhealthy.

I like to eat candy because of that sweet tang you get in your mouth. Other people eat it for fun, they eat it to stay awake, and also to gain weight. I know that last one sounds a little weird in society today, but my underweight brother actually eats candy to gain weight. :P

Can you seriously not figure that question out for yourself? Do you feel the need to waste people's time on such a silly question?
