Most dogs at rescue centres are adults (well, over six months of age, anyway). Occasionally, young puppies are available, as well. There are many wonderful senior dogs that are also worth considering.

Yes you can get a puppy from a rescue center, but to be honest with you they are harder to get, usually there are waiting lists for puppies that come in, and they are adopted with in days of being there. The older dogs on the other hand will stay there indefinately many times, and have a much harder time finding a home, because people are so enamored with puppies, or afriad that the dog is a problem child. My recomendation is to either get on the waiting list, or take a look at some of the older dogs, maybe you will find your perfect match there!

Dogs of all ages end up in rescue centres.
You can get puppies that have been born in the kennels because their pregnant mothers have been abandoned or older pups that have been dumped, abandoned or strayed.
You can also get geriatrics which have been taken to kennels when their owners have died or the dogs thrown out when they have become too old and boring, too sick and need vet treatment or incontinent (usually treatable) or maybe just because the family want a young pup.
And you can get all ages in between in all shapes and sizes - all someone's pup once - unwanted, abused and abandoned.
Take your pick there are hundreds all over the country desperate for a permanent, kind, loving home.

I'm sure there are plenty of puppies at rescue shelters. But PLEASE give some thought to giving a home to an adult dog. They are just as much fun, and will appreciate your love. I got my dogs from the pound, they were pups at the time, but I am going back to get an adult. Someone will ALWAYS take the pups just for the cute factor, but there a lot of great adults who need a home too. Please give it some thought, but what ever you decide, I'm glad you're going to adopt!!! Good Luck!

Adult dogs are more common, but rescues DO get puppies in, as well. Also check the humane society and local pounds, as they also get puppies in, on occasion.

You can get everything. But dogs/cats only reproduce at certain times of the year, so check to see when the SPCA is expecting the next influx of puppies. Until then, go look at what they have, there are some "real cuties" all house trained, and just dying for someone to love again.

Go in & walk around; any dog rescued will be grateful to have a loving, caring home. I have posted my own adoption experience so follow the link below to see my blog and the story of Picasso my dog.
Good luck & God Bless!

there are many resues out there, they do have pups from time to time, if you specifically wanted a pup you could prob put your name and number on a list and they would contact you if there were none at your time of visiting.
There are breed rescues for nearly every breed you can think of, so if you don't mind traveling a little, you can also put your name down with them too.

yes you can get puppies but consider getting a little older one they may not have very much time at the shelter left.

Any age, but get one that is house trained and about 1 yr old, saves a lot of aggravation.
