Bird with a song that sounds like a spring twanging?

I was walking the other day and heard a bird singing just like the sound of a big metal spring being 'twanged'. Sort of Twawawawawwawaaaaaaaang. Of course it could've been a bloke with a spring going 'twawawawaaaaaang' just to fool me because he knew I was an ignorant Brit, new to Ontario! Can anybody help? I didn't see the bird so have no idea what it looked like,
