ok, i only know her online, and we can't meet each other anytime soon or anything. we're friends, i want to be something more. what do i say? just saying "hey, want to be my girlfriend?" sounds so lame.

i'm 17. she has sort of hinted at being interested in me, but she's very shy, i'm going to have to be the one to do something. obviously i hope to meet her one day, but that's not an option in the near future.

I'd write "Hey I know we have been friends for a long time, and I don't want to put on the spot or anything but I was wondering if you wanted to go out with me?
