2 tablets of Vitamin C, 3x a day for 3 days. I promise, this is the cure for the common cold. I do it all the time. Promise. Also, to speed things along, drink a lot of water, and eat fruits and veggies. Green tea is also good, it works as an antioxidant. Of course chicken soup is also good.

A cold will run it's course no matter what you take. I avoid all medications since it doesn't work. Perhaps Aspirin is the only thing I take if I am in pain.
Rest, liquids, chicken soup is good, as many said.

one thing always worked for me- a nice dish of hot curry. I personally prefer chicken madras- but from a real indian restaurant. This is the hottest dish they have SFAIK. Cleans the sinuses very nicely- provided you can swallow the stuff, because it is really really hot.
has side effects a day later too, I'm afraid- since not all the spices will be digested.not pleasant but bearable.
