He starts by looking at and licking his front feet, lying on his front. He then stops, staring at thin air, and stays still for a couple of mins, then he suddenly lurches upwards into the air, looking at the cieling, making a thraoty growl.noise !! He is 10 yrs old and a rescue dog. He is in excellent health and very fit. When he has thes episodes it does'nt stress him, it stresse's me. Anyone elses dog do the same or similar ??

Maybe your pup is having seizures. You should take him to a vet.

I had a dog do the same thing. The vet told me many animals develop seizures as they age. Some can be dangerous. If the doggie comes out of them fast there is no problem. However if the seizure lasts more than 5 minutes take it to a vet. It needs some medical intervention or it will die of heart failure.

a fit is usually seen in older dogs around your animals dog age.
from the description it doesn't sound like a fit or seizure.
they are usually quiet, not respondent to voice and the whole body trembles. when they come round they are confused and tired.
by reading what you wrote that he is still i would think maybe he sounds a little senile.
i would advise you had him vet checked.
if a fit is still suspected. turn out the lights and remove all stimuli such as turning of the television or radio, move all objects the animal could hurt its self on, do not restrain the animal during the whole fit as this could cause more damage and seek medical advice asap.

Pomeranians often have this genetic defect that makes their windpipe a little narrow in one spot, so they are known to cough. My puppy coughs several times a day and I just keep an eye on him, but he seems to be fine afterwards. Check with your vet for sure, but I believe certain types of coughing can be expected. Don't just take my advice though, see a vet!

it sounds like he could possible be having a petit mal seizure, but u will need to take him to a vet to have him checked out. my dog is 10 and he has been having grand mal seizures for the past 18 months now, this is where they go rigid and fall to the ground making a chewing action and it looks like they are running but dont go anywhere! i would get him to the vet as there is medication that he can take. good luck

First of all what kind of rescue dog? Has it ever occured to that perhaps he needs to see his DVM. He might very well be having seizures and in need of medicine.

If he looks vacant and is very thirsty after this behavior he could be having genuine fits and needs to see a vet asap.Especially if his eyes look glassy.

sounds like possible seizure activity. there are treatments available, depending on what the cause is. seizure activity can be dangerous, so it is best if you take him to a vet for further examination.

nicely, you may brush him usually so as that his fur would not get disheveled alongside the month-to-month wait. Charlie has a brilliant style of fur, yet you won't would desire to brush daily. perhaps each 3 days.
