Hi I would love any suggestions that anyone might have. My boyfriend's birthday is on dec 1 and he loves biking - he loves road biking, mtn biking and cycle cross and he races/competes in all of those areas.
He has a ton of biking gear and works in a bike shop part-time in the summer (he is a teacher) so has access to whole sale bike stuff.
Is there something out there different and bicycle related that I could get him? I would appreciate any input thank you so much!

Don't buy bicycle parts, you probably can't compete with his knowledge or contacts.

For purchase try:

They have interesting bicycle art gift items.

Maybe get a picture of him racing, have it enhanced and mounted?

Maybe make a picture frame yourself by adding one of his old tires, cut up and mounted to an existing frame.

try getting some tools that he doesnt have. ask the guys at the shop what they think.

i am an avid mtb rider myself, and i have things like a new chain break tool, strong wire cutters (for cutting those darn shifter cables), and a new chain on my x-mas wishlist.

clothes are always in. buy some shirts. try the site below, they custom make shirts with funny bike things on them. get a sweat shirt from a big bike company. they will not be cheap ($35-60) i bought a Fox hoody from Bob's for $40 and i wear it often.

gift certificates work too. see if the shop he works at does that. you can also try the website he buys alot of his gear from. i personally shop at JensonUSA.com a lot, and they have a large selection and do gift cards.

good luck

If you don't mind buying from Europe (Germany or England specifically), Tune carbon fiber bottle cages and partnered water bottles are the second lightest bottle cages in the world at 9 grams each (Tune also makes the lightest cages at 4 grams each but they are even harder to find). I really doubt that he can get it domestically.

Another thing that is exotic are cycling products by Rapha. I received a pair of their merino wool socks and it is definitely high end. Go through their website, you might find something suitable.

Pay for his entrance fees for the year. Sounds like he's really into racing, so pay his entrance fees for the next year if you can. I'm sure he'd appreciate that. Or after every ride why don't you massage his legs afterwards with some oils. Help him wind down after racing. Hope this helps.
