Hi,
English cocker spaniel, 4 yrs old. She was running around a lot today. Seemed v tired this afternoon, thought it was just because she'd been more active than usual. Got home, she had her dinner as usual but noticed she was a bit off colour. She's limping but putting her foot down and we can't see anything wrong with her leg or anything in her foot. She doesn't seem to be in pain but is very sleepy, almost like she's been drugged.
Do you think I should call a vet, or shall I just wait to see how she is in a few hours/tomorrow?
Could it be that she's pulled a muscle in her leg? I'm worried she might've got bitten by a snake or something. It was about 7 hours ago that she started getting sleepy.
Her heart beat is about 88 bpm.

Forgot to say that she can hardly jump up onto the sofa, but not sure if this is because of the problem in her leg or because of this 'tiredness'

I don't know if I'm overreacting hence haven't contacted vet yet. Also I've only just moved to Spain so haven't got a vet in the area yet. Advice only please.

Just to update - she's acting fine this morning, completely back to normal. I'm going to keep a close eye on her though but it seems it was a case of over exertion.
Thanks for all your answers.

I would look very carefully at her paw. Dogs can get the tiniest slivers stuck into the padding on their feet that makes them feel really uncomfortable. Make sure that she has enough water to drink, since dehydration can really make dogs act crazy. If she doesn't seem to be getting any better, be sure to at least call your vet's office and ask them about it. Most of the time, they have vets on call that can answer your questions right over the phone. Good luck!

what colour is she? The red cockers can get a host of weird things that other cockers don't get, including madness! Have you checked her eyes and mouth? It could be so many things, even poison, or a sudden viral attack which would exhaust her very quickly and cause bp to drop. I think a vet is the only option to really find out.

Hi there,
just my opinion but I would get her to a vet. If your gut feeling is that she isn't right then she probably isn't. It may be nothing to serious to worry about but at least you'll know. Something similar happened to us recently with our little german shepherd and we couldn't find a vet due to the fact that it was night time and a Sunday and we got no sleep we were so worried about her. Turned out to be a simple tummy bug fixed with anti biotics but I sure wish we'd been able to find out straight away. For your dog's sake and yours just get her checked...she's worth it.

I would like to ask a question first .
Is your dog shaking ?
If so , your dog could be in pain .
She could have pulled a muscle , etc .
She could have also ate something poisonous, that can hurt her .
I would def call a vet . Even if its an emergancy vet .

Call or take her to the vet,it might not be anything but if it is and you dont sort it you will never forgive yourself and you will always beat yourself up over it. At least when you have seen the vet it will put your mind at rest... Hope that she picks up soon and you get it sorted....

must agree with terri t. my old dog, Nina, was playing ball and running the very next day she went to the vet because she didn't act right.she was diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer. we had to "put her to sleep" the vet said there was no way we would have known in time to save her. please take the dog to vet.
