If your hair is dry don't wash them every day! Shampoo and hot water are the biggest moisture zappers there are!
<>First of all get a shampoo that is for animals and humans (I pesonally recommend Mane 'n Tail) So you can be sure that there are no chemicals.
<>Then, get a good hairmask. Use it every other month.
<>The months you don't use the hair mask pour oil on your hair in the shower and wash and condition as usual.
<>Every week put a mayo mixture and leave in over night. Wash it out in the morning.
Here is the Recipe:
1 cup mayo
1/4 cup sour cream
1 raw egg
1/8 cup extra virgin olive oil
Directions:
<>Mix together and slather on dry or wet hair.
<>Massage into your head for 5 minutes.
<>Put a shower cap on your head and a towel on your pillow.
<>Wash out in the morning.
(<>if you can't sleep with it leave it in for at least 1 hour and then wash out in the morning).
<>If you have oily hair pour lemon juice or vinigar on your hair instead of the oil.
****<>****Always do a final rinse in cold water. This will seal up the hair cutical and give you shine, and a lot less breakage.****<>****

I have natural hair and I use a bit of olive oil in my hair while it's still wet after I shampoo/condition it. You should buy the real olive oil from the grocery. I have the same problem and I've found that when I wash my hair exactly every 6-7 days my scalp won't dry out. So find your personal hair washing time and you can beat the discomfort!

I don't know if it would work for you, but I put olive oil on my hair (lots of it), and then wrap it in saran wrap and sleep in it. Then I wash it out in the morning. I'm a white girl, though.. and my problem is more with the ends of my hair than with my scalp.

Black hair is naturally dry. That is because of its tightly coiled structure. With straight hair, the sebum that the scalp produces travels down the hair shaft on its own. With very curly hair, the sebum that the scalp produces cannot travel down the hair shaft, and this contributes to hair dryness. To combat dryness, you need to use a shampoo and conditioner for black hair, in addition to oiling your hair. Northwest Scents products are designed to moisturize black hair.
