Absolutely not!! I think healthy long hair is beautiful at any age. I hope to have a long silver braid some day.
I think long hair looks youthful. Getting the granny-chop doesn't make anyone look younger. It can give someone a temporary boost in self-esteem, but so can any change, like a wardrobe makeover.

I think it depends on the woman. Just because you're over a certain age doesn't mean you should have short hair, but some women over a certain age really don't look good with longer hair and should go short. For example, the mom of one of my childhood friends always wore her wavy hair shoulder length. I saw her a few years ago and her hair style is exactly the same but now she's completely gray (she's in her mid 60s) and she looks like a witch, no lie. So in her case, I'd suggest either cutting it or dying it.

Just because a woman is over a specific age doesn't mean she has to have short hair. It is totally up to her. I don't think that it makes older women look younger, but it's basically her choice if she wants long hair or short hair.

I feel that, NO MATTER WHAT AGE A WOMAN IS, if she takes care of her hair so that it is healthy and shiny, it doesn't matter what length it is.
Why do you care whether an older woman has waist length hair. I have seen some women in their 60's that have hair down past their behinds, and because it was healthy and well-cared for it looks wonderful.
If a woman is attached to her hair, then she is attached to her hair, and where do we get off telling her that she is too old to have it anymore?
The same goes for young girls who are being forced by family pressure to keep their hair long and uncut when they want to be sporting the latest styles. Even if she wants to do a GI Jane, it should be allowed because it's her choice.
I know only one older woman (60+) whom I would just love to take a pair of sheers to. But she has her brown shading to grey waist length locks in dreads. She is married to a Jamaican, but she is white. And I asked her once if she was Rastafarian, and her answer was no. She dreads her hair because her husband does. She has taken to wearing it pulled back into this huge bun lately though--not quite so tempting, since it's being kept up and out of the way.

Longer hair has always been an image of youth. Shorter hair is considered to be more polished and professional. My opinion is that if the older women wants long hair it should always be kept well groomed and healthy. Color , perms and products damage hair and as we age we need all we can get.

I don't think women need to cut their hair when they reach a "certain age." However, I do think women who have had the same hair style since they got out of high school need to do something about that. That is what makes someone look old -- a 20 yr old style.

Well I don't think that woman that is 45 or over should strictly wear her hair short. That is not a rule. She is a woman no matter her age and can have a long hair!

no i think women should be able to wear their hair long in any age... and besides why do other people care when it isn't their hair or their head? if they don't like short hair on older women then they should just get over it/themselves and move on bc like i said it IS NOT their hair or head!!

I think that an old lady shouldn't have like hip length gray hair or anything but I mean i think that if they want to go gray then they should not have it past their shoulders. I dont kno if you have seen Paula Deen's hair, but it is gray and about shoulder length and it looks good on her. I think it also depends on you head shape and the texture of your hair. who knows though.

no way....your hair really says alot about you and if you chop it all of you will not look as young and beautiful as you wuld with longer hair. i think that your age should not get in the way of the things that make you pretty..
