NO JRT.
I have a JRT mix and two cats. It takes a lot of work when you combine terriers and cats. My cats always have an escape from my dogs. Somewhere they can go and the dogs can't follow. If I didn't, my cats would both be dead.
Think about what most terriers were bred for....
My neighbor has a 13 year old Patterdale Terrier that killed an adult opossum. Not only killed it, but shredded it. It took two people to get the lifeless, bloody mess from the 15lb. dog and they both almost got bit in the process. And this dog had never done anything like this in all his 13 years.

I grew up in a house with 4 cats, 3 Labradors and 2 Chihuahuas and they all got on just fine. As a working adult I just have cats (as they don't need the attention dogs do) but the day I retire I am going out to get myself a Chihuahua. They are amazing little dogs and wonderful companions that will bring nothing but joy to your life. Anyone who tells you they are "bog-eyed rats" has never had one.

I think any small dog will accept a cat if they are introduced properly. I have a Coton de Tulear, which in my opinion is the best small dog, but she hasn't had any experience with cats swo she doesn't like them. I know a shih tzu that gets along with cats well.

In my opinion , the Chihuahua is what you would want to get if you already own a house cat . Chihuahua 's are also really good for allergies . If you keep one as an inside dog , it can HELP allergies .
There also excellent lap dogs !

Any small dog can learn to get along with a cat.
We have poodles and a llaso apso.
And 3 cats.
Putting any animals together takes patience.
Your cat might take a month to get use to any new animal.
The important thing is to let them keep their distance as long as they need it. Don't force them. They will eventually get along.

I found a 3 yr old minpin at an animal shelter and he LOVES the two male cats that I already had. He's never once shown agression towards them.

I wondered the same thing. you want a dog that'll get along with the cat. We have a Fox Terrier and she is fantastic. She is a Smooth Fox Terrier. They are very loyal, and good at hunting rodents and get along with everybody.
Hoped I helped!
