Did Marvin Gaye sing the nat'l anthem at the first Ali/Spinks fight in Feb. 1978?

I seem to remember Marvin Gaye singing it and Howard Cosell raving about what a great singer Mr. Gaye was in his pre-fight commentary.

ya know, i don't believe so. i know marvin sang his classic version of the nat'l anthem at the 1984 nba all-star game, but i also remember him singing at a sugar ray leonard fight, way back in the day, bec he owned a piece of the fighter who fought ray that night - and lost, of course. i believe it may have been dave green or bruce finch, not sure which one exactly!~
