was born on a farm... so ive heard many stories of owners doing thier own casteration of their male dogs... anyone know how?

some interesting answers so far.... but if u think im being cruel im not.. living on a farm.. u do **** for urself... i know how casterate a hog and a cow... horse.... and hell a male human when hes being a jerk... but no... i wont hurt my dog... just want to know how do it.. if you can apply the same procedures as you would a farm animal... relax...

It is not well advised to castrate any animal without expertise for that species. It would be best to just have it done by the Vet. I understand that living on a farm is a do for yourself way of life but this animal is a pet that you are emotionally attached to. If it was to get a severe infection and die that would be difficult for you to deal with. Just let the professionals do there jobs and stick to castrating bulls.

Just go to a vet and have them do it. That way, if there's an infection, it can be monitored by a vet/proffesional. Also, if something goes wrong, there's the equipment needed right there and right away to take care of it. Just spend the extra cash and take it to a vet who went to school for many years to be able to do this.

Yes, I know how, but I will NOT tell you. Go to a vet or contact your local ASPCA for discounted neutering info. How can you even think doing this at your home? Personally, you don't sound responsible enough to own an animal. Do the animal a favor and adopt him out

That is a job for a vet! That is why they are out there. Why would you want to take a chance of doing something so serious to your animal yourself? That to me seems inhumaine. Besides if you was to take anyone's advice on here how to do it then your dog is sure to die. The POOR dog needs an owner to take care of him.

I wouldn't advise castrating a dog yourself. I've seen 2 dogs that were mutilated that way by their owners and both of them had to be put down.
One of the dogs was so infected and maggot riddled that it was truly a mercy killing to put it down.
You don't operate on yourself do you? Pay the vet fee.

If you have a friend to help, shut the dog partway in a door and have the friend hold the door tight so the dog doen't escape. Then if you have some suture, tie a couple knots close to the nut and cut it off on the far side of the knots, so the tube is tied off. Do the other side the same way, spray it with lots of iodine, and give him a shot of penicillin. My uncle has done this and it works pretty well. I grew up farmin' too.

Yes iknow but B4 i tell you keep in mind that its really DANGEROUS and disgusting because the dog can easily bite due to the pain and because the blod will be spilled all over. PLase let a specialist(a vet) do it if its really important to you.

Pleas take your dog to the vet, after they are older than 1 week you even need to take them to the vet to have their tail cropped . Too many blood vessels and nerves to mess with.

you don't...its cruel. take the dog to a vet where they can do it without risking infection and any additional stress/pain the dog has to go through.
