I do believe you are right, to a point.
It WAS traditional for the wedding to be held in the Bride's hometown, but that was back when the bride was purchased. Back then, the Groom's family would come to the Bride's home, pay the price for her, hold the ceremony so her family could see that everything was legal, then they'd take her with them and she'd likely never see her family again...
I doubt this old tradition continues for the same reasons in most of the world anymore.
So, you two need to discuss the pros and cons and come up with an agreement based on your individual situations. Claiming "tradition" in this case is kind of silly...

I don't think there's a traditional place, but since the bride does 99% of the planning, it'll be a bunch easier for you to do it in FL. Another questions is where are most of your relatives? Maybe where your mom lives would be good too if she'll help you plan it?
I'm serious about the planning ~ don't agree to TN unless you plan on going there ALOT! Where will you live after you get married? If you are moving to a new state, you'll have planning to do there as well.

The truth is as much as you love him the wedding and plans is the girls territory, You are the one that should decide where you want it to be. Maybe you could find a place inbetweed fl and tn like south carolina or something to settle on but it is your choice because it is up to the girl when it comes to the wedding although im sure he is helping you get to make the big decisions

The biggest issues are the type of wedding you want is location more important than turn out.
I wanted to get married in Manitoba cottage country(where my fiance is from) but, we realized that a large number of people we really wanted to come probably would not travel well so we are getting married in my hometown.
I would look at the price in both areas and your guest list to see the size and average price of both.
If you want a small wedding consider a destination wedding but give yourself lots of time there before the wedding to get your license. Recently 11 brides from Edmonton,Alberta were going to Cancun to get married and their flight was delayed in Calgary and threatened to cancel all their weddings because you have to be in Mexico for 3 days prior to your wedding day for the license.

Why not pick something completely different if you can't choose between them?
My cousin got married in Santorini and just stayed there for the honeymoon. It's gorgeous.

The ceremony was wonderful, and Santorini is the most beautiful island. It's unbelievable. Look some pictures up. You'll see what I mean.

The wedding is going to be where you and your fiance decide that it should be. If your guests have to travel in either direction, be sure and give them plenty time to plan for it; in other words send out those save the dates' early. They will appreciate that.

It used to be a traditional thing. But I am a Londoner and I got married in the Harris County Courthouse in Houston.

It is up to the 2 of you and no family guilt trips should interfere in your joy. The day belongs to the two of you, nobody else. If they want to celebrate with you great if not, oh well.

You should have it wherever you both agree on. Hawaii is a good place. Flordia is a good place too. Key West is the best place though. Since its famous for its sunsets and all.

Maybe you should have it in a beautiful garden
with sweet-smelling blossoms (as long as you don't have allergies.) And if either of you have allergies, have it at a church.
