It depends on how dedicated you are. Arabic is hard for English speakers because some of the alphabet sounds are not used in English and there's reading and writing. I say about 4 years is good if you constantly practice and emmerse yourself in an arabic-speaking country.

I am very glad that you want to learn Arabic...If you are truly dedicated then you will learn much quicker, however, if you are not truly 100% into it then you will truly find it hard. I am an Egyptian American and i speak mostly Englis, however, i do no Arabic. I find it very difficult to read and write and im still learning. Since i go to an American school im not that deidicated and therefore i do not no how to read and write fluently but i can speak fluently after about 5 years of learning (but then again it was on and off learning). The language is very difficult to learn because the characters are not english letters however there is no silent letters. etc. The dialects r very different (i no some moroccon and egyptian and saudi etc... and they sound completely different) so i think u should pick one and concentrate on it 4 no untill you master it.... Good luck...BTW: Its salamalaikum (hi) and walakumalsalam (bye) Hope this helped best of luck and have fun.

It depends on how many hours actively you spend practising not years.

Some people are studied with spent over five years in Egypt but they did not progress far.

The more hours you put in weekly the less longer it will take.

I'd say spend a few hours working on each of the four language skills.
The below blog is an excellent resource for learning Arabic

Quite a while. You have single, dual, and plural number to worry about, the noun plurals are a mess, and there are a few other atrocities not possessed by English, including at least one letter whose pronunciation is matched by no other language on the planet. The fact that it is written from right to left (except for numbers!) makes it a challenge to do on displays. On the other hand, the phonetics rules are simple, and Arabic does not suffer from the benefit (if that is the right word) of having imported words from every other language spoken on the planet. Expect to spend a couple of years to get good at it.

depends on how much you try to communicate and your environment, if the people around you r speaking Arabic you will learn it faster than if you have no one Arabic to listen to. Time and patient and practice will make one succeed at any goal they wish to achieve.
