Why do they thank God for their recovery instead of thanking the doctors and nurses who worked their butts off and gave them the medication, treatment and care they needed?

I heard an African priest on the radio this morning who got treatment in a London hospital when he got very sick. All his thanks and praise went to God for looking down on him.

First thanks should've gone to the British NHS. They should redirect him to his god if he gets sick again on our shores.

Because it was God who made doctors out of them

I know it makes no sense to you ..... but still, you're my favourite atheist in this forum

It is right to thank all those that care for us. this includes the doctors, nurses and all the other healthcare professionals, home helps, etc. Their knowledge, expertise, experience and care are indispensible for the sick and infirm.

The point, though, is that God created endowed us with the ability and desire to care for the sick, the ability to make medicine and medical machines, develope surgical and other care techniques that the sick benefit from. It's the health care professionals that are at the business end of healthcare, but it all comes from God.

Doctors and nurses, etc, I have found are amongst the most actively and practically nice people on Earth.

Because the doctors could not have healed anyone with out the will of God for that healing Himself. It is not the doctors that does the healing, but God who heals through the doctors. Praise the Lord!!

1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Of course you should thank the doctors, they did a great job if you recover! But what can a doctor do if God decided that your time has come? Doctors are instruments of God, they heal by the grace of God, it is as easy as that!

Blessings!

You should thank the doctors, nurses, etc... but Christians (I am a Christian myself) believe that God gives people abilities....and that includes those in the medical field.
We also believe that God looks after us (believers) and what happens is allowed by God, hence the thanks for allowing those that have knowledge to help in times of need.

There are many reasons to thank God after recovering from accidents and disease. A friend of mine was told he would die of pancreatic cancer by a doctor. The Church prayed and he is still alive and thriving after many years. God can give doctors and nurses inspiration and skill. Most medicines are derived from plants God created.

Had a woman testify in church one Sunday morning. She was dying of cancer. The doctors said she past the point of no return. She had an IV in both arms, one was chemo, the other was an experimental drug. The doctors knew niether treatment was working. This woman was alone in her room when she cried out to God to save her.She stated that she would testify anywhere, and at anytime if he healed her.The very next morning, she was completely clear of any and all cancer. The doctors determined it was not any of the drugs they had given her. That hospital run every test they could think of to rule out a miracle.

They failed in their attempt.

It is God who inspires the doctors and health care workers. It is also God who created the whole universe and everything in it. (The source of all medications) He deserves all the praise. Without God "We can do nothing."

And if god is responsible for their physical healing then why is he not also responsible for allowing thousands and thousands to suffer and die? I'm perplexed when I see some natural event result in 3000 people dying and one person being found alive being declared as a 'miracle'. Is God really that sadistic that he would save one special person and let all those other people's families suffer?

Yes, we should all thank the doctors and nurses who take care of us. It is through them that God works, as long as they do not knock us off! God has the power to intervene, but he has no favourites and gives all the freewill to use their talents.
