When you put THE before God...your talking about the supreme creator of the universe and his creation of us humans here on earth......
He is above all other Gods that people make up for their beliefs. He has a name to distinguish him from all other gods. The oldest book of history, (the Bible), says his name in four Hebrew characters YHWH the vowels were removed because the copyists thought it would be to holy to say it....stupid stitious. The modern use of his name is called JEHOVAH.

A concept of an original creator of everything, and depending on the religion at issue, a benign presence, a loving but stern eminence grise, or a jealous taskmaster who meddles in human affairs --- or other variants too numerous to mention. For me, a fiction.
