Everyone always says... Tryptophan but that's an old wives tale. Do you get tired after a turkey sandwich? NO! Of course not.
The reason everyone gets tired after Thanksgiving is because of two things... First... They ate too much, and Second... They overloaded on carbs. Excess carbs will always make you sleepy and on Thanksgiving they're in the potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing, sweet fruits, pies and just about everything EXCEPT the turkey!
BTW... The average person consumes 2000-4000 calories at that ONE meal!

Tryptophan in combination with the large quantities of food in the stomach. Your body diverts the blood supply to your stomach to digest the food, making you sleepy.

Turkey has a chemical in it called Triptophan...or Triptofan...regardless, it's pronounced Trip-toe-fan. And it makes you sleepy.
