And how do you deal with it? My parents grew up in a different country, different culture so I feel we have trouble relating with each other.

I don't have a language barrier per se, but rather a generational and/or time barrier. It causes much of the same problems as a cultural-language barrier, though. My parents were brought up in a very conservative, old-fashioned, and sheltered world. They just didn't know how to deal the way the modern world really works. And to this day they misunderstand how I interact with others and the world around me- they'll perceive me as rude while I see them as being overly formal. I deal with it by asking a good friend for help or advice instead of my parents, or go look it up online.

I'm not exactly in the same situation as you, I live in Spain and my dad is Spanish and my mum is English. I have some difficulties talking to them, with my dad because Spain was under a dictatorship when he was growing up and everything was completely different to the Spain I'm living now. More importantly i don't think my mum really understands what growing up here is like, its very different to English culture and i find it hard sometimes to talk about some things with her, she doesn't really get it. My parents have got more understanding with time, hang in there and i think you're parents will get used to the fact that you re receiving a totally different education than they did and it will get easier. good luck!
