I have a dreadlock. You have to wash your hair with some products that would not leave your hair filled with residue. I use Treseme Suave and some fruit shampoo and conditioner.
I wash my hair every week, mainly cause i sweat in my head so i have to.
Then i rub lotus oil or African musk oil in it. I love how that smells.
That is just to keep your hair smelling sweet all the time.
When you wash it, wring it with a towel and let it loose. When the water starts to dripp again, wring it some more. Keep doing that until it dries.

You can wash them. Just try not to wash them too frequently until after they lock up. Also, you should wash it in the shower. So, you don't have to worry about flipping your hair around too much. And, make sure you are gentle. You probably will have a few that will unravel, but thats normal in the beginning.

You do wash dreads. There are many sites on line that tell you how to make dread locks and how to maintain them.

My understanding is that, once they are completely formed, you can wash them just like you would normal hair.
I don't think I could stand to let my hair get ratty enough to the point where I was allowed to wash them again.

Dread locks are not a simulation as most people think they are real dreadlocks people are born with them in Africa they are sacrifices required before one can cut their dread locks. I believe you expose yourself to demonic spirits when you wear dreads you attract spirits that you have no clue how to manage. If you are not born with dreads please don't grow them.
