My father is touchingly looking after my ill mother
but even though this work is too much for one person ,he will not let anyone help him or
accetp any advice as to improving drinking or eating habits, even if a
nice dish is prepared.

Maybe he is depressed....please get him counseling on how to deal with the stress and pressure he is under and deal with the grief of seeing someone he loves suffer. Also, try to get her a nurse sometimes and take him out to enjoy some recreation time. Good luck to both you and him!

He probably feels obligated to her first of all. He feels that it is his responsibility and no one elses. Ask him to to take break and let you help while he relaxes a bit. Think of some things that you may need him to do for you while you can tend her and help him out. He may need a different scene at times and it will give him a nice fresh breath of air.

most older parents are like that how ever you might want to just help him any way if this is your mother then put your foot down and say i am helping weather you like it or not
