genetically altered organisms can also be referring to the use of antibiotics to cause livestock to grow faster.
in this case, they cause the spreaqd of antibiotic resistant bacteria when the non-resistant strains are killed.
even if the resitant strains are destroyed, they can still spread antibitoic resistance to non-resistant bacteria by the nonresistant ones coming in contact with their plasmids.
