I was downloading a video and somehow it changed into a "file" instead of an mpeg. Is there a way to convert the file?

A file is just a name of where information is stored. If you downloaded it as an mpeg then it is still an mpeg. Maybe it wasn't an mpeg to begin with?? It could be that the software u use to play that specific format doesn't recognize it. In which case try a different player. But if you are "SURE" that is what happened then use a program like #1 video convertor. http://www.2baksa.net/news/10688/ you need winrar to open the file. It is also free.

try renaming the file and typing ".mpg" on the end
