what language should i pick. From your experience..becuase someone told me not to pick korean because there were more cons involved than pros... than some of the other languages.

There's no such language called 'Iranian.' The Iranians speak Farsi. I do not know which language you should pick. I think the code makers of old based a code on the Navaho language that could not be broken by the enemy, but I'm not sure. I think Math is something you will have to know something of too, to go into that field. Ask the Air Force people who work in this area what you should study.

If they do it like the army, it's not your choice. They will assign you a language based on your performance on the DLAB. If you join the air force and later reenlist to become a linguist, you have more say in it.

I'm in the Air Force but not a linguist. Haven't heard much about the job that you're thinking of. Sorry, bud.
A little FYI, if you do join, know this: the military is only as bad as you make it out to be. If you make it a great time, it'll be a great time. If you make it a bad time, trust me, it'll be bad.

the needs of the service come first - with me, experienced in German and French, they wanted me (in the Navy) to learn Mandarin Chinese. Training in languages will probably involve a 3 year extension in y oru enlistment - they pulled that on me and I walked away from it.

you really don't have a say in what language you get. part of it is based on your DLAB score, and part of it based on what day you show up to DLI and what classes are starting up and what language is in need on that day.
