I went to a therapist to help me decide to end a relationship that had too many red flags and issues for me to deal with all the dysfunction from the guy and the relatioinship. After my therapy was complete my therapist let me know that since I was no longer a client of his that it was ethically okay for him to ask me out. I'm wondering since he knows so much about me that I have confided in him as my therapist, would it be a good idea to pursue such a relationship with him?

I think you should go out with him and get to know him before you decide to pursue a relationship. You should let him know that you are not ready to jump into a relationship, after all you have been through stress. I hope he doesn't think that you are gullible and try to use you, but you cant just judge someone and not give them a chance. Proceed with caution.

No it's not ethically ok, making a play for one of his patients should have red flags written all over it. It should make you wonder why the guy can't find a date elsewhere.

when you think of dating someone you must only concentrate on one thing and that it is whether or not he makes you happy!i mean sort out hte priority in your relationship!in a way you can think that you are going out with someone who understands you!but before going out just discuss this doubt in your mind and tell him that in order for this relationship to work neither of you has to be judgemental.remove all doubt from your mind and then and only htne venture into this relationship!good luck

You should watch the movie Deconstructing Harry, same thing, therapist dates and marries her patient.

is he a whole lot older than you? do you like him? I mean I'm not really sure. If he's like 50 and ur 20 than most likely not. it's not just the age factor it's the whole legal thing too

It depends what you confided in him about. If you said things like "oh....i'm so slutty ..exc...exc" then absolutely not( because that's why he may be asking you out).
If your problems are not like that , then i don't see why not! What could it hurt to go out to lunch? He could have some genuine interest in you.
