Why do people believe in religion?

Question

There must be hundred upon hundreds of different sects for different religions. So it's either

A.) 1 is right and the rest are all wrong or,
B.) They are all wrong

Why do they even waste their time?

Religion gives answers to questions we are too ignorant (so far) to answer for ourselves.
If a Corvette is the right car for you, does that mean that all other cars must be garbage?

Religion isn't what they believe in. That is a word desrcibing a broad range topic. For most people, they are brought up being instilled with their parents beliefs and some explore and expound upon those beliefs as the get older. Believing is a comfort for most people. It offers hope, peace and joy. The thought that there is a supreme being watching over them and offering to guide them through their mortal life is a huge comfort. I don't think anyone can say one religion is right, wrong or better than another. We may not agree with the beliefs of someone else, but they began the same way, being brought up with their certain beliefs. As long as those beliefs lend a moral compass that teaches that a person be kind, help others and do good, I don't see a problem with them.

One believes in a religion because it is the best and foremost way for man to have a society in which they may live and raise their families. It is the core of civilization and the world. It is the concept of life that is guarded by certain percepts upon which man must live and will progress.

The religions in themselves are not the problem that you you address, it is the doctrine and thus the dogma , those that get into the power structure of the religions then address their own concepts which usually lead to struggles for power over those that follow them and those around. Man certainly has not given up his pride of ownership of man, and religion of those that are looked up to is a force that most earthy man cannot resist.

They are NOT all wrong. They all hold a bit of the truth. It is your duty to find the truth as you perceive it and follow it, live it. It was a wonderful thing that Luther did when he demanded that we could have a personal relationship with God.

You take the best of the best and fill your heart with it. You will progress and so will humanity because of it.

Jews believe in their religion because their parents told them what occurred to their parents of being taken out of Egypt and a mass revelation in front of 2 million people by God at mount sinai.

So Jews would not feel they are wasting their time any more than some one who believes in any other point of history.

About others I can not say.

Religion gives people stregnth. Well thats what I think. For some people I think it makes them worse off than if they didn't believe in anything, but for a lot I think it helps them get through the trials and tri bulations of everyday life. I personally am not a big fan of any religion, but for those who are religious rock on.

Theres One God. One Spirit of God. one soul in each of us.many religions over the years have been created by mankind.take your pick, or don't pick at all. the Spirit is with all. except the Spirit into you with faith and love. ask, listen. do Gods will.Heaven is for all. as in the bible. In my fathers house or many mansions.have followed a number of paths in my life.Buddhism, Krishna. Eckanakar. Islam.now Christianity.The Spirit was with me the whole time.I have seen many miracles that come from God thru the Spirit.have actually experienced spiritual Revelations.left my body. heard the voice of God, many realizations . mighty ones. but we all must learn on our on. our soul is eternal. theres time.Bad actions. there iron shackles. good actions. there golden chains.the road to heaven is narrow.

It all comes down to what people, themselves, believe. A lot of times people don't just choose a religion; they go with the one in which they believe in. I, myself, am Catholic, and I really do believe that there was a man named Jesus Christ and that he died on the cross for us to resolve us of our sins. My friend, however, is an athiest, and I respect her and her beliefs as well.

No one can be sure which religion is right or which is wrong, so I guess what it comes down to is that we'll find out when we die.

do u ever feel man that something happen that u never expect it!!!it gives u enormous happiness...or sometime u feel everything goes wrong in ur life!!!!sometime u feel any supreme or supernatural power work upon u......!!!there is some supernaturals which governs our lives.....all that lie under religion.....!belive me.....if u belive in something it will give u strenght to fight in the war of life!!!!!there is no question of right or wrong...if u study all the religions of world u will find that all r interconnected and the superme power is one....so religion is above all...but its the people who uses it and define it in thier own way for their own !!!

I believe that Jesus Christ is my Savior and God hears me, because I am born again by the blood of Christ. As for 'religion' I do not believe in organized religion, with man made teachings and hypocrites screaming their religion is the only one to be saved. A true Christian recognizes that we are all one in Christ and HE is the only way to salvation.

B) they are all wrong. Religion is a man made thing used to pocess both power and give man a feeling that he doesn't have to blame himself for problems in his life, and to give him a feeling of importance, when really he is just an animal who is self aware.
